Keeping up a long-standing tradition, a group of parishioners celebrating '0' milestone birthdays hosted a party in St. Pius Hall on 23rd November 2019. The Big '0's being celebrated ranged from 40 to 90, and perhaps it is not too indiscreet to mention that Fr. Sebastian was at the lower end of that scale!
The evening was compèred with aplomb by Howel Lewis, who presented a most amusing account of how life and the world had changed (and in some ways had not changed!) in the years since the children of 1939 were born. Howel had his audience in stitches of laughter time after time as his monologue continued. A display of anonymous photographs of the hosts in their earlier years gave rise to much speculation!
The hosts had generously provided a buffet with wine, and a special cake to mark the occasion. Howel also presented a quiz based on 24 seaside towns, to the enjoyment and amusement of all the guests.
Thanks to Rosemary Gardner for the photos!
