Teams of Our Lady

Teams of Our Lady is an international Christian lay movement that works to enrich married spirituality, for couples who seek to live their marriages sacramentally. Teams provide couples with the opportunities to increase and improve prayer life, helping them to support each other and grow closer to God and to each other. For more information see www.teamsgb.org.uk

Within the Parish of Guildford we have 7 established teams and we always open to couples interested in joining an existing team or forming a new one.
Ideally a team is comprised of between four and six married couples and a Chaplain / Spiritual Counsellor. The team meets once a month, rotating from one home to another. During the lock-down months many teams have been meeting on Zoom. The Chaplain/Spiritual Counsellor comes to the meeting to share equally and contribute uniquely, to walk with the Team in their Christian journey. New Teams are formed by a process of piloting by an experienced couple over several months.

During the monthly meeting the Team shares a simple meal during which there is;
- Sharing of their previous month,
- prayer,
- sharing on the endeavours, and
- a discussion topic.
The endeavours www.teamsgb.org.uk/about/endeavours/ are at the heart of the spirit of Teams; they are the building blocks (e.g. prayer, spiritual reading) which help couples in their spiritual growth. The team becomes a close community, where couples can inspire each other through their living examples of faith and share and support each other through their struggles and successes on their way to holiness.
Couples from all stages of life (newly married, raising a family and empty nesters) can be part of Teams. It is not parish based, but it is advisable for couples to live in the same geographic vicinity. Since this is a lay association, lay couples hold all positions of responsibility. Teams of Our Lady, a gift of the Holy Spirit, is offered to couples throughout the world in order to help them live out their married spirituality.
