What is SVP
The St Vincent de Paul Society, or SVP for short, is part of an international Christian organisation dedicated to tackling poverty in all its forms by providing practical assistance and support to people in need.
SVP Mission
Our SVP volunteer members aim to fulfil the SVP mission through offering our services to support those who need help. We are inspired by the Gospels and seek out those in need and offer them sincere friendship.
Support includes regularly visiting those at home, in a hospital or care home or in prison. We sometimes offer additional support for provisions which include food, furniture or financial help.

SVP in Guildford
The SVP Conference in Guildford is a group of volunteer parishioners in the Catholic Parish of Guildford who set out to help anyone in need.
We meet once a month for prayer and discussion in either St. Joseph’s or St. Edward’s.
We are a small team and we need your assistance now possibly more than ever. The number of people needing our support has increased and is very likely to increase further.
There are in Guildford local families short of food, lonely people who need a friend, people worried about going out and resuming their normal activities after Covid restrictions, people struggling with financial hardship, or facing illness.
We are actively involved in the CPG Parish Pantry Project.
The SVP visit the sick and the lonely and are committed to meaningful and long term befriending within our local community.
