Session 2 - Who is Jesus?

8/12/2022

We are focusing our conversation of faith at home this month on the 2nd Family Handout that we have gone through at the last parent session.

Please try your best to go through the handout with your child - we're looking forward to seeing how it went at our next parent session.

Please find below some reminders of the key points we covered at the parent session.

How can we show our children that Jesus is more than just a man that he is in fact God incarnate?

We ask you to look at, with your children, some of the amazing things Jesus did, some of the amazing things that Jesus said, the amazing things that Jesus taught and some the amazing things Jesus claimed about himself. All of these things help us to see that Jesus did claim equality with God and it is precisely because of this claim that chief priests wanted him killed.

VIDEO WE WATCHED DURING THE SESSION
Jesus compels us to make a choice about who he is. It is a choice. Jesus never forces his way in. Our role as parents in this process is to help our children understand their choice to believe that Jesus is God - even if we may have doubts ourselves.

Bibles

This month we ask you to look at several Bible passages. After all the best way we can learn about Jesus is by reading the Bible. Do you have a Bible at home?
If not don't worry. Below are some of our recommendations of Bibles you can buy online.

The NRSV Catholic Faith & Family Bible is what we use in the Church and a version of the Bible that we use in the parish.
It offers great guidance and things to reflect on as a family throughout.

The Good News Bible - Youth Edition is a great Bible for your young person to grow up with. There is room in the margins for them to doodle and add notes.

The Hands-On Bible is for ages 8-11. This Bible is an experience-based learning Bible and  features hundreds of fun and memorable activities and includes a 'Do-It' activity in every feature.
